Ousedale Team Up With St Mark's Meals

The PTA and the DT department are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with St Mark's Meals, to bring Cook-Away sessions to both campuses.

What is a Cook-Away Session?

We will be using the meal kits provided by St Mark's Meals, to cook the meal with pupils so that they can learn how to do it for themselves.  Not only will they cook the meal, and take it away for their families to enjoy, but they will also be given another kit with the same meal to take away and cook on another day!

Who can attend?

The cost of living rise has hit us all and while these sessions are initially aimed at pupils who benefit from free school meals and/or PP (Pupil Premium), we would like to offer this to any pupil whose family are feeling the pinch, those pupils whose parents are working extra hours and they are either sat in an empty house for hours, or it is their responsibility to sort dinner out for them and/or their family.  If you feel your family would benefit from these meal kits, then your child is welcome to attend the session.

When will sessions start and for how long?

The sessions will start on the 4th March 2024 and will continue until the 25th March 2024.  Each session will be held during session 6 and will run from 3:10pm to 4:10pm.

To enable your child to get the most out of this amazing experience, we would like your child to attend all 4 sessions if possible, but if they need to miss one or two, it’s not a deal breaker.

Does my child need to know how to cook or even like cooking?

Not at all, but we do hope that by the end of the 4 weeks they will on both counts.  If your child is already a capable cook, they will still benefit from building their meal repertoire.

What does it cost?

Absolutely nothing!  All costs are covered. However, donations are welcome.

What kind of meals will they cook?

We have a variety of meals on offer, from Spaghetti Bolognese, to Tacos, to Bean Chilli.  All kits are non-perishable, items are not able to be modified due to dietary requirements.

How do I book a place:

If your child is interested in attending the sessions, please email kirsty.taylorprice@ousedale.org.uk
