E-ACT is a multi-academy trust responsible for the governance and strategic oversight of all E-ACT academies.

The Board of Trustees is accountable for the performance of the Trust and its academies. Trustees set the strategic direction of E-ACT, oversee educational and financial performance, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Through its governance structure, E-ACT provides effective oversight while empowering academy leaders to deliver excellent outcomes for pupils.

Governance at E-ACT

Members: Members act as the guardians of E-ACT’s charitable purpose. They ensure the Trust remains true to its mission and values and are responsible for appointing trustees and approving significant constitutional changes.

Board of Trustees: The Board of Trustees oversees the strategic direction and performance of the Trust. Trustees ensure E-ACT meets its legal obligations, uses public funds responsibly and delivers high-quality education across all academies. They hold the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to account for educational and financial performance.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and National Leadership Team: The CEO leads the Trust, supported by the National Leadership Team. Together, they implement the Trust’s strategy, oversee educational, financial and operational performance, and ensure academies receive the support they need to succeed.

Academy Headteachers: Headteachers lead their academies on a day-to-day basis, ensuring high standards of education, safeguarding, behaviour and pupil wellbeing. They work closely with the National Leadership Team to deliver strong outcomes for pupils.

Academy Ambassadors: Academy Ambassadors provide local insight, support and constructive challenge. They help strengthen engagement between the academy, its community and the Trust, but do not hold delegated governance responsibilities.

Our Scheme of Delegation sets out how decisions are made across our organisation and explains the different layers of governance that work together to support our pupils, staff, and communities. The Scheme of Delegation ensures clarity, accountability and effective governance across all E-ACT academies.

Academy Ambassadors

Every E-ACT academy is supported by an Academy Ambassador Group. Ambassador Groups connect academies with their local communities, bringing valuable insight, experience and perspective to support the success of the academy and enrich Trust-wide governance.

E-ACT has established an Ambassador Group in every academy because local voice is essential. Ambassador Groups help ensure that each academy remains connected to its community and that the views of parents, pupils and local stakeholders help inform the Trust’s understanding of academy life.

Ambassador Groups are not governance bodies and do not hold delegated decision-making powers. Their role is to strengthen the partnership between the academy, its community and E-ACT through three key pillars:

• Community: strengthening relationships between the academy and its wider community.
• Celebration: championing the achievements of pupils, staff and the academy.
• Context: providing local insight and stakeholder perspectives that help inform Trust-level decision-making.

Ambassador Charter

All Academy Ambassadors are expected to uphold the values of E-ACT and work in accordance with the Ambassador Group Charter, which sets out the commitments and expectations of Ambassadors, academies, the Trust and the Board of Trustees.

Membership

Each Academy Ambassador Group includes the Headteacher and two Parent Ambassadors elected in accordance with E-ACT’s Articles of Association.

Groups may also include individuals from the local community who can contribute their skills, experience, networks and local knowledge to support the academy and its pupils. Membership is designed to reflect the diversity and needs of the academy community while bringing together a broad range of perspectives.
