E-ACT Ousedale School Awarded Prestigious Inclusion Quality Mark

E-ACT Ousedale School celebrates achievement of national Inclusion Quality Mark Award

E-ACT Ousedale is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Inclusive School Award, recognising the school’s commitment to ensuring every student feels valued, supported and able to succeed.

Following a comprehensive two-day assessment, IQM Assessor Alison Merrills concluded that Ousedale fully meets the standards required for the national accreditation and recommended that the award be granted. The assessor also recommended that Ousedale consider applying for Centre of Excellence status in the future, which the school is intending to do immediately.

The report praised Ousedale's culture of belonging and inclusion, noting that "inclusion is central to all we do at Ousedale" and highlighting the school’s commitment to ensuring every young person has the opportunity to thrive.

The assessment recognised the strong relationships that exist across the school community, the dedication of staff, and the breadth of opportunities available to students both inside and outside the classroom. The report described Ousedale as "an inclusive school with a dedicated and caring staff who are ambitious for every student," adding that inclusion is clearly a priority for school leaders.

Particular praise was given to the school's support for students with additional needs, its strong transition programmes, and the effective work of the SEND team. Parents who met with the assessor described communication from staff as "second to none" and praised the "passion and dedication" of the school's SENDCo and inclusion staff.

The report also highlighted the school’s extensive enrichment offer, noting that more than 400 students currently hold leadership roles across both campuses and that participation in clubs, sport, music, drama and community activities is actively encouraged and tracked. The school was recognised for its commitment to ensuring all students can access these opportunities, including financial support for disadvantaged students.

Inspectors praised the school's calm learning environment, high expectations and strong culture of personal development, describing students as respectful, engaged and proud of their school. The report further recognised Ousedale's strong community partnerships, charitable work and global opportunities, all of which contribute to a rich and inclusive educational experience.

Paul McFadden, Headteacher at E-ACT Ousedale, said:

"We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark Inclusive School Award. This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication and compassion of our staff, students, parents and wider community. At Ousedale, we believe every young person deserves to feel that they belong, are supported and can achieve their very best. Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do, and we are delighted that this has been recognised nationally."

The award reinforces E-ACT Ousedale's vision of creating an environment where every student can flourish academically, socially and personally, and recognises the significant progress the school continues to make as part of the E-ACT family.
