Ousedale Named Milton Keynes School of the Year

E-ACT Ousedale School has been named as School of the Year at the 2025 Milton Keynes Educational Awards.

The school, which recently received a glowing Ofsted report rating it as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ in all elements, was judged as school of the year based on its educational innovation, excellence and overall impact.

Sixth form co-ordinator, Claire Tierney, was also recognised at the awards, winning the ‘Unsung Hero’ Award for her inspirational work with pupils in the local community.

Ms Tierney goes above and beyond to connect students with the local community through a range of meaningful initiatives. She leads projects such as care home visits, charity partnerships, litter picks, and school collaborations, helping pupils build empathy, confidence, and life skills.

From organising carnival floats to supporting the elderly and cancer patients, Ms Tierney’s dedication inspires kindness and community spirit in all she does.

The school was also recognised at the Milton Keynes Inspiration Awards, where Ousedale won the award for Best Creative School. This award celebrates the vibrant environment the school strives to provide, where every pupil can express themselves, explore new ideas, and excel.

Headteacher Paul McFadden shares his pride, saying:

“It’s truly an honour to receive these awards, which reflects nothing less than the tireless efforts of our students and staff.

“I’m proud to say that at Ousedale we have created an environment where students are pushed to achieve their full potential, and there are real connections between our staff and pupils.

“I’d like to thank all my colleagues for their hard work to make this award a reality  and a special congratulations to our unsung hero Claire Tierney. Claire’s dedication is universally known within the school, but it’s only right that now the rest of Milton Keynes is aware too!"
