Find things to get involved with that you can use on your personal statement, especially those that are challenging, show responsibility or show achievement.
These things can include:-
Start thinking about what you want to study and where. What are the minimum entry criteria? Do you fit the entry profile?
Make sure your AS module grades are has high as possible, universities may not look favourably upon resits.
Feb/July
Research the courses that may interest you. Read around a subject - Geography may interest you at school but there are many different streams of Geography available at University - check them out and see if there are courses that interest you more.
Attend open days and taster courses. Visit university towns to see if it is somewhere you can live for 3 or 4 years.
Organise some related work experience for the summer holidays. Competition for some courses is fierce - make sure you have the edge over other applicants.
June/July
Register with UCAS
Initial Draft of Personal Statement - deadline 18th July
Oxbridge, Medics, Dentist and Vets - ensure your applications are complete with the exception of your AS results and references.
August
Finalise your choices.
Research open days.
Input your AS results when you receive them.
September
Finalise your personal statement and inform your tutor your application is ready for references.
Oxbridge, Medics, Dentist and Vets application - internal deadline is September 15th.
Attend open days (only 2 in school time!).
October/November
Tutors will aim to have your reference in place within 2 weeks - but this does depend upon your subject tutors too. Your tutor will inform you when the references are in place and your application has been approved by The Head of Sixth form.

Pay and Send your application.
December
The internal deadline for your fully completed application to be with the Head of Sixth form is December 2nd.
January/February
Start receiving offers and attend interviews.
March/April
Decide on your first choice and insurance choice.
May
UCAS deadline for choices.
Apply for financial support to ensure money is available when you start your course. Deadline is May 31st.
August
Receive final A2 results. UCAS will notify you as to your successful entry to University.
If you are unsuccessful, follow the UCAS advice on clearing.
