Politics is about the world in which we live. It gives students a greater understanding of the political system in which they live and the current issues and debates.
A variety of teaching styles are used, ranging from group work to presentation and note-taking to seminars. Students will develop a critical awareness of the world around them and gain the ability to argue a case coherently.
The course consists of the study of widely differing political systems of Britain and the United States of America. The course also looks at Britain and the European Union.
Students will have the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament and conferences on current political issues.
Politics complements a wide range of subjects, including History, Sociology, Economics and English.
The course is assessed through six examined modules:
