Our Expectations of Students

Parents need to know what we expect of our Students. All members of the school are required to:

  • uphold the School Code of Conduct
  • be punctual to school and lessons and arrive with the necessary basic equipment, and in uniform
  • work hard and concentrate in lessons
  • record homework in the School Planner and complete it to the best of their ability
  • deliver letters/notes to parents

Persistent failure to conform to these simple requirements will result in corrective measures i.e. written punishments, detentions, requests for parent's support and being 'on report'. Exclusion is the ultimate sanction of the school. Ousedale's Behaviour and Exclusions policies are available on this website (under 'ABOUT/Policies').

More important points

  • Students provided with free school transport are expected to behave sensibly and safely during all journeys to and from school. They must carry their bus pass, with a passport-size photo, at all times. Students whose behaviour endangers the safety of others risk the removal of the bus pass.
  • Students using the school cycle shed must ensure that bicycles are securely padlocked. Parents may wish to ensure that cyclists are provided with safety helmets. Care should be taken when leaving the school site with cycles.
  • MOBILE PHONES - for reasons of security and risk of lesson interruption we actively discourage students from bringing mobile phones to school. Our insurance will not cover loss, damage or theft. If lessons are interrupted by phones ringng the phone will be confiscated and parents may be requested to collect it. The student will be placed in school detention.
  • We also discourage the bringing to school of EXPENSIVE items of equipment eg personal stereos etc. THESE WILL NOT BE COVERED BY THE SCHOOL'S INSURANCE.
