GCSE Music at Ousedale encourages pupils to develop Performing, Composing and Listening skills. There are three areas of study that pupils will study these skills through:
- Music for Dance
- Film Music
- Orchestral Landmarks
- Music for Special Occasions
- Popular Culture Music
The course is assessed in the following:
Composing Portfolio 25%
You will need to prepare a composition based on a special event of your choice. This composition will be prepared in class and is the coursework aspect of the course.
Performance 25%
You will prepare a solo and ensemble piece to be performed under examination conditions.
Listening Exam 25%
At the end of the course there is a listening exam which includes all of the areas of music. The exam is 1 hour 30 minutes long.
Integrated Assignment Exam 25%
The exam board will set you a composition brief in the autumn term of year 11. You will be assessed on the quality of your composition, how well you perform and evaluate it.
