GCSE Level English for Mature Students at Ousedale School
| Level | GCSE Eng Lang 3703 |
| Examining Board | AQA |
| Head Of Department | Mr J Henry |
| Teacher In Charge | Mrs L Zachery |
This course is aimed at those students in Year 12 who wish to improve upon the GCSE English Language grade which they attained at the end of Year 11.
- The course is of one year duration. Students are offered two one hour lessons each week. Homework is set weekly.
- At the beginning of the course, students are helped to evaluate their KS4 coursework and exam performance, utilising feedback and data provided by the examining board. These diagnostic sessions enable both student and teacher to identify specific areas in which the student needs to improve in order to reach the higher grade requirement. The skills, content and teaching methods are then customised to meet those needs.
- Wherever possible, we encourage students to use their experiences in other subject areas to improve their communication skills. Field trips and theatre visits often provide excellent material for oral presentations and personal narrative writing.
- An additional benefit of the course is that students have the opportunity to improve their skills and confidence in spoken and written language.
