Complaints Procedure
Section 23(1) of the Education Act 1988 requires that a formal complaints procedure should be established by the Local Education Authority (in our case, Milton Keynes Council) to deal with complaints about the curriculum or religious worship of a school. Ousedale's governors have adopted their own procedure, copies of which are available from the school.
It is normally expected that parents who have cause to complain will bring the matter to the attention of their child's Head of Year. Many matters can be resolved very simply by ensuring that there is a clear understanding between parents and teachers. If the matter is not resolved to the parent's satisfaction by approaching the Head of Year, the matter should be brought to the attention of the Deputy Head or the Headteacher. If it is still not resolved by this means, parents are asked to write to the Chairman of the Governors so that the matter can be brought to the attention of the Governing Body.
