Last week, the ‘league tables’ were published and once again we find ourselves in an excellent position. We have never chased a position in the league table by putting students through certain courses and we would never do so. While we offer a broad and varied curriculum at Key Stage 4, which includes academic and vocational subjects, our students are guided towards their choices. No vocational course is compulsory.
Therefore, I am delighted to see that once again we are the top performing Sixth Form in Milton Keynes, with 934.1 points per student, and in the top 50 of comprehensives in the country. Looking at the table there is no other school in Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire or Northamptonshire in the top 100. It is therefore not surprising that we have been overwhelmed with applications for our Sixth Form, which has the lowest entry requirement in the city. External applicants waiting to hear from us, don’t worry you will be sent an interview time shortly.
Our results in the core subjects at GCSE are also very sound and put us in a strong position across the city. The majority of Year 11 are working very hard and the Year 11 Parents’ evenings were very positive events and therefore we are hopeful we can repeat, if not beat, last year’s results. We were delighted with the response from our parents who are clearly valuing the personalised intervention programmes which have been put in place. Our revision programme is now well underway and I am sure you will want to attend a GCSE preparation evening this week where we explore in more depth how parents can support their child through the next few months.
If your children come to Ousedale School, I kindly ask you complete our online Parent Questionnaire so we can evaluate how we are performing in your eyes and try and address areas where you feel we could do more.
As always I thank you for your support and interest in Ousedale School.
