Welcome from the Headteacher

Image of headteacherWelcome to Ousedale School. I hope the information contained within this website provides a useful and helpful insight into the life and work of the school.

Ousedale School is a mixed comprehensive academy based on two campuses, one in Newport Pagnell catering for 1500 students aged 11 – 18 and a second in Olney catering for 600 students aged 11 - 16.

The school has a very committed staff; turnover is small. We are forward looking and constantly seeking to improve in order to offer a first class education, in the widest sense, for all our students.

Learning and achievement are central to our work. We have an absolute belief that all children can succeed and become successful learners. The school has a very good academic record over an extended period of time, particularly in the core subjects of English and Mathematics. Significant numbers of our students achieve at the very highest levels at GCSE and A level. The Sixth Form has an outstanding reputation locally and nationally, often getting into the top 50 of comprehensives in the country. We accommodate on average 350 students in our Sixth Form and a significant number join Ousedale School in the Lower Sixth.

Expectations of students are high and we insist on standards being maintained in every aspect of school life. We promote a strong code of values based on respect and tolerance and we encourage our students to be good citizens within a caring community. We pride ourselves on being able to set individual learning programmes for children whose needs or personal circumstances require an alternative approach.

The school is a specialist Technology college, but we place strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities in their broadest sense; sport, music, D of E and drama are very strong at both campuses.

Our pastoral care is rated outstanding by Ofsted and we believe a child who is well supported, nurtured and guided has the best possible chance to succeed. Uniform is a strong feature of the school. We believe it instills pride, a sense of belonging and prepares students for the rules and regulations they will face in their working life.
