Free School Meals

Ousedale School operates a cashless payment system in the dining rooms.  Students who are entitled to free school meals have their allowance credited electronically to their account, therefore allowing them to remain completely anonymous.

Children whose parents receive the following support payments are entitled to receive free school meals:

  • Income Support

  • Employment & Support Allowance – Income related

  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (NOT Contribution Based JSA)

  • Child Tax Credit Only (NOT Working Tax Credit/childcare element) and your combined annual income as assessed by HMIR is not above £16,190 (as at April 2010)

  • National Asylum Seekers Support (NASS)

  • Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit.

Students who are over 16, but still in statutory education, may receive Income Support in their own right.  These students may be entitled to claim free school meals.

Parents/Carers currently in receipt of Working Tax credit DO NOT qualify for FSMs.

However, parents/carers receiving Working Tax Credit who become unemployed can claim for free school meals for a 4 week period after their employment finishes.  This also applies to parents/carers who start working less than 16 hours per week.  Supporting evidence that shows your unemployment or reduction in hours will be required.
