  • The Art department runs a weekly session on Wednesdays after school for talented artists and anyone else who would like to take their art skills further.
  • Latin lessons will begin after Christmas – learn the language and culture of the Roman empire.  There may be the possibility of taking a GCSE in this in the future.
  • The gifted and talented students will be invited to help with the continued development of the school conservation area at various times throughout the year.  A new wildlife friendly area is being created on school grounds that will benefit many different species of mammals, insects and birds. The area will also be used by students studying ecology and environmental management at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.  A detailed plan was drawn up and priorities for different management strategies identified. The area was chosen as it already has some mature poplar trees and native hedgerow in place.  We will create three main habitats. A small woodland and a copse will be planted using British native species such as hawthorn, ash and rowan. A large wildflower meadow will also be planted and include species such as cowslip, ox eye daisy and snake’s head fritillary.

If you have any further ideas for interesting and stimulating enrichment sessions please let me know.  E-mail emma.casey@ousedale.org.uk
