Science Core Science - Oils, Earth and Atmosphere Homework

What you have to do

1. Rocks and Building

Research the pros and cons of limestone quarrying. Consider the environmental & economic impacts both locally and nationally. Once you have collected sufficient data write two proposals to parliament. In one you should be pro quarrying and the other anti. In both cases a rounded and persuasive tone should be adopted, it should also provide viable reasons and possible alternatives.

Useful Websites

Use www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/education/int/geog/limestone/people_bank as a starting point for your research.

2. Rocks and Metals

Create a detailed timeline of the history and discovery of different metals that have been extracted and used over the last 6000 years. The website that is suggested is very detailed. One of the skills you will need to develop in this task is the ability to extract precise information and summarises it logically.
