Assessment

Student progress will be monitored through the completion of ‘assessed tasks’.  Opportunities to complete these occur at regular intervals throughout the schemes of work.  Staff should aim to complete at least one every term and should always have completed them before progress reviews, parents evening and reports to parents.  Teachers will monitor and assess student progress throughout the year through the regular setting and marking of class and homework.

Staff agree to complete common assessed tasks three times a year.  This will allow departmental moderation to take place, ensuring consistency in the application of NC levels.  Staff are, of course, encouraged to assess student work throughout the year and in every lesson, through the assessment for learning process.  Staff and students should be fully aware of  progress achieved and ways to improve further.  The target setting process helps to inform this.
