Criminal Courts

The two courts that hear criminal cases are the Magistrate's Court and the Crown Court.  In this topic we examine the implications on where a trial is heard dependent on the severity of it's nature and the defendant's desicion as to whether they plead guilty or not guilty.   Youth courts are in their entirety deemed of a seperate nature to adult trials and this reflects the sensitivity that is required when looking at youth offenders and their treatment in the justice system.

A breakdown of the topic:

a) Magistrate's Court

b) Youth Courts

c) Appeals from the Magistrate's Court

d) The Crown Court

e) Appeals from the Crown Court

f) The Criminal Cases Review Commission
